Jagjit Singh is undoubtedly theKING of Ghazals. The veteran maestro has sung for over four decades now. Aaeena is a gem of an album composed ofnine masterpieces. Ghazals are
lyrically intense, musically soothing and fromthe singing point of view very thought and emotion provoking. This albumjustifies all the above mentioned points.
The album startswith my favorite Tera Chehera Hai AAEENAJai Sa, it has lyrics that pierces your heart like a bullet. The passion inmusic and singing makes this song celestial. Next on the CD is Uski Baatein To Phool Hon Jaisai, you might be wondering why am I giving long titles, I feel it revealsthe song more. This is also a lyrical magnum opus which soft music that soothesyour ears. Then we have Ghar Se NikleThhe, a track that passionately unveils hopes and failures. Music is up tothe mark, singing could have been bettered to a level. Subsequently, Parakhna Mat is what is heard next. Musicis the soul of this song, the tabla give it a heavenly feel. Voice of JagjitSingh is simply flawless and I give an A+ to the lyrics. At track 5, we have Phir Nazare Se Pila Dijiye, the unblemished voice of Jagjit Singh iswell synchronized with the earthy instrumentation in this number. The lyric hasthe fidelity to add to the aura of the song.
Next on the listis Muskura Kar Mila Karo Hum Se,dynamically sung this song has the killer lyrics to express compassion. Musicon the other hand is equally relaxing and calming. Subsequently, Kaaton Se Daman Uljhana , sets thetragic mood alight. Acute lyrics blended with perfect music makes this songstand out. Singing is also very notable. After that, Uski Baatein Phoolhon Jaisi,is there to charm our ears with. Jagit Singh sings this masterwork withease but is able to express all the emotions. Lyrics and music go hand to handthan can really evoke the exquisite sentiments. Last number is Badal Ki Tarah Jhoom Ke Leherake PIYENGE,the voice has been staggeringly woven into the music. Lyric is just out of thisworld, it is a must listen after the first track.
